Soy wax is a vegetable wax produced from soybean oil, soybean oil. After harvesting, the beans are cleaned, shelled and turned into flakes. The oil is extracted from the flakes and hydrogenated. The hydrogenation process greatly changes the melting point of the oil, turning it into a solid at room temperature. This is how the soy wax flakes are transformed as in the photos.
The US grows the largest proportion of the world's soybeans, particularly in the states of Iowa, Illinois and Indiana. It is a staple crop for them, most countries source their soy wax from America as we do here in Greece.
It is a renewable resource that is environmentally and human friendly.
